Organizer's Message
A word about CONET '99
Since its establishment in 1949, the Japan
Construction Mechanization Association has
contributed in many ways to research on and
the diffusion, improvement and development
of machines and construction methods, all
aiming to promote mechanization of our building
industry. In doing this, we are most grateful
for the guidance and cooperation received
from the many persons and organizations concerned.
Our association has organized construction
machinery exhibitions as part of our activities
for fully a half-century, and "CONET
'99" marks the 37th in the series since
the first one held in 1949.
Joined mainly by makers and users of construction
equipment, CONET is the largest fair of its
kind in Asia and features a host of machinery
and related technology, ranging from giant
automated machines to related appliances,
robots and the latest devices for building.
On the threshold of the 21st century, we
face a wave of construction-related factors
never experienced in recent years, such as
economic confusion both at home and abroad,
globalization of environmental measures,
and administrative and financial reform.
Held under the trials of change, CONET '99
heralds technological innovation in the coming
century.
In addition, CONET '99 has the distinction
of feting the golden jubilee of our association,
and special attractions like a "Theme
Plaza," "Corner for Classic Construction
Machines," "Construction Technology
Corner," "Intelligent Construction
System Corner," "Trial Operation
of Machines and Equipment" and a "Construction
Machine Design Project" will be featured.
A highly unique show, CONET '99 is a fair
no one having an interest in construction
should miss.
We believe that, as an event marking the
turn of the century, CONET '99 will provide
an excellent opportunity for construction
and related-industry experts and fans to
gather and promote even greater innovation
through learning and collaborating. At the
same time it will help waft a refreshing
breeze into our industry and introduce our
superior building equipment and technology
to Japan and the world.
Be sure to visit CONET '99!

Conet'99 Events guide
The world's most advanced construction machinery
and technology!
The latest in excellent products by Japanese
and foreign firms!
CONET '99, Asia's biggest construction equipment
and related technology show, offers invaluable
information to everyone in and interested
in the construction industry.
As a special function to fete the 50th anniversary
of the Japan Construction Mechanization Association
(JCMA), CONET'99 will feature an array of
superb attractions:
In the middle of the Expo site, the Theme Plaza represents the crux of the whole fair: "Construction - Free Exploration." A show with a plethora of monitor images will entertain visitors with information on the "Now and Future" of construction and its machinery. Professionals can't miss the appeal of future construction machine designs by college students. Others can vie in a quiz to win prizes. In the vast exhibition site, the Theme Plaza will serve as a base for "Free Exploration" and describe all that's happening at the fair. The Theme Plaza: a great place packed with fun for all.
To help commemorate JCMA's golden jubilee, examples of construction machines of forty to fifty years ago will be displayed. A taste of nostalgia for those who remember.
This project will feature ideas for construction machines of the 21st century by students of industrial design. Twenty students from the Tama University Faculty of Product Design will compete. Based on the present state of construction sites from the viewpoint of industrial design, presentations using models, renderings and computer graphics will show how future construction machines should be.
A leap from the past into the future!
Here you can see the advanced construction technology of Japan's top sixteen contractors, who never stop challenging technical innovation to cope with society's diverse and highly sophisticated contemporary needs, such as living in symbiosis with nature, automation, saving resources and energy, safety improvement and more thorough recycling.
Under the current trend of CALS/EC for construction, more and more new forms of information-incentive technology and IC cards are being applied to construction machines. See them at this fascinating display of what we can look forward to in 21st century building projects.
Machines like a mini-excavator, hydraulic excavator, crane, vibratory roller and rough terrain hauler will be available for trial operation at a special outdoor sight.
Be sure to try your hand at working these up-to-date construction machines!
A contest using a mini-excavator and crane will be held for persons having an operator's license. So if wanting to test your skill, don't forget to bring it.
